It’s been very late in coming but thanks for our custom home. But to really know that I have a quality home, one must live in it for a few years.
It started with a blue print that I had a different builder draw for me. The builder had a hard time in pricing my home. It took them weeks to come up with a firm price or to get back to me with costs on minor changes that I was wondering about doing. I also took the blue print to other custom builders for pricing and they all guessed at the prices (the prices I got back from the other custom builders were all based on prices per square foot, it went from $90.00 to $120.00 per square foot). Why bother to give them a set of blue prints if all they do is guess.
Brad with his computer program was able to give me firm pricing during our first meeting that lasted for about an hour. The pricing was within a few thousand dollars of the builder that spend weeks in pricing my home. I was confident from our first meeting that Brad knew what he was talking about. I hired Brad, on a cost-plus basis during our first meeting, (to my wife that was giving a blank check to someone we do not know). If we did not do all the upgrades, Brad’s original price would have been prefect.
The last house I had built, upgrades were next to impossible (that’s why we decided to move in less than three years). With Brad it seems that we made changes almost every day. It was easy to move walls even after they were up, because you see it for real and not just the blue print. There were times the blue print wasn’t even used. Building on lakefront with the water table only a few feet below the basement was one of my biggest concerns. To solve my problem we build my house on concrete piers based on Brad’s recommendation. The flexibility that Brad had in building a custom home is unmatched with any builder I know in Calgary (I have lived in Calgary for over 34 years).
With any new house there are always unforeseen problems or changes and Brad always resolves those problems quickly. Brad’s idea of home warranty is not one of a few years, but a lifetime. After living in my home for over two years now we still have small items to deal with, but knowing Brad is always there to back up the product we never worry about it.
I highly recommend Bradford homes to anyone who is thinking of building a custom home. My friend just moved into his 7000 sq. foot Bradford built home, and he tells me that he and his family couldn’t be happier.
