Job B 105 Reference Letter
98 11 25
We are writing this letter of reference on behalf of Brad Bevans, owner of Bradford Homes. We recently moved into our new home that Brad built for us and I wanted to take this opportunity to thank him and tell him how delighted we are with our new home.
When we first approached Brad with the blueprints for our dream home in April 1998 we were somewhat apprehensive about the reception we would receive based on a recent experience with another builder. Quite to our pleasant surprise Brad was interested, enthusiastic and ready to earn our business. He spent hours with us going over the details of the design so that he could provide a cost estimate. He also visited our acreage so that he could get a feel for where the home would sit. During this first meeting we mentioned to Brad that we were really agonizing over one of the features of the home - a two-way fireplace between the kitchen and great room. Much to our surprise, it was only three days later when Brad met with us again with a detailed estimate for the cost of our house, 3 pages of questions, and suggestions on how we might improve some of the design features and a request for our e-mail address so that he could e-mail fireplace pictures that he had searched on the internet! Needless to say we decided to proceed with the project and the level of service and interest that Brad showed before we were customers continued throughout the building process.
We spent the summer monitoring almost daily the progress of our new home and moved in on time and under budget despite several upgrades that we deliberately made during the construction phase. We interfaced with Brad and the various trades quite extensively throughout the building process and were impressed with the interest and pride they took with this project.
We built our house with Brad on a cost plus basis and I would never do it any other way. With cost plus there are no hidden costs and with a good budget at the outset you, the customer, are in control of the cost of the project and the quality and detail of the finishing.
You often hear about the horror stories associated with building a house, however our experience was quite the opposite. We did run into the odd glitch during the framing stage where things didn't quite fit, however Brad and the framers discussed all of the options with us so that we could make an informed decision on how to proceed. As I mentioned above, we moved in to our new home on time and under budget despite the fact that we built a fairly complex house, in the country during one of the strongest building booms in Calgary's history - and in spite of the monsoons which lasted from the end of May to mid-July!
Brad prides himself on what he calls "red carpet" service and he really does provide this he is available to discuss any detail of the project, seven days a week.
We would highly recommend Bradford homes to anyone building a new home, particularly a custom home in the country.
